With the goal of minimizing the environmental impact associated with commuting, Almaviva conducts periodic surveys regarding sustainable mobility, involving over 6,000 employees from its various offices in Italy.
Findings show that cars remain the primary mode of transportation to reach the workplace. Furthermore, the survey also highlighted the inefficiencies of public transportation and the challenges of using bicycles due to a lack of bike lanes or excessive distances between home and work.
The initiatives proposed by the Group and most appreciated by employees focus on encouraging the use of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles by installing more charging points at the main offices, developing carpooling programs for employees with similar commuting needs, and encouraging shared mobility solutions (such as motorbikes, scooters, and electric bicycles).
The results of the survey have been integrated into the Home-Work Travel Plan, which outlines both ongoing and planned initiatives to establish a smart, efficient, and sustainable corporate mobility system. Reviewed annually, the plan calls for the implementation, over time, of a series of tangible initiatives and measures aimed at helping employees to adopt more efficient and lower impact commuting options.
Almaviva intends, first of all, to reduce the need to commute by developing a plan that promotes smart working and co-working in locations close to employees' residences.
Finally, Almaviva has adopted an Auto Policy that allows employees, based on their professional category, to select vehicles from a corporate car list that, in order to further reduce environmental impact, is made up solely of hybrid, plug-in, and electric vehicles.
