Circular waste management

Circular waste management

100% separate waste collection throughout the Group

In carrying out its business activities, Almaviva is a direct or indirect producer of hazardous and non-hazardous special waste. It has therefore adopted an approach to mitigating and reducing related environmental impacts, the efficient use of technological tools, the reduction of hazardous materials and the monitoring of waste production with particular reference to waste containing toxic polluting substances and difficult to dispose of, paying attention to correct collection and correct disposal at company premises.

The waste management process is regulated by a specific procedure. The Group's efforts and commitments aimed at correct waste management have led, already in 2023, to the achievement of the 2025 target, which involves achieving 100% separate waste collection for the entire Group.

The waste management process includes:

  • the planning of operational and disposal activities, with the assignment of roles and process responsibilities
  • the assignment of clauses related to waste management in the general contract conditions during the supplier selection phase, whether they carry out specific waste management activities or whether they deal with maintenance activities of the site systems and ancillary services, and in the templates for formalizing purchase orders. Some of the Group's partners and suppliers, through specialized and cutting-edge systems, contribute to the recovery and valorization of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), transforming them into new resources and thus limiting waste. In order to ensure compliance with the Group's ethical principles and sustainability objectives, Almaviva entrusts the majority of electronic equipment disposal activities to partners who adopt the recovery strategy and who are inspired by the values of transparency, efficiency and sustainability
  • the separate waste collection activities supported by awareness campaigns and reuse of furnishing materials and recycling of electronic equipment (not obsolete) in the business or in some third sector entities and in the territory in which the Group operates.

In order to homogeneously and uniformly supervise waste management, Almaviva has a Waste Management Delegate at a Group level, supported by individual employees per site.

Among the various activities, a detailed list of the types of waste produced directly and/or indirectly in the corporate sites of Almaviva Group and/or in the context of the management of services agreed with its customers has been defined. For each type of waste, a specific characterization sheet has been produced which is prepared and periodically updated by the D.G.S.A. (Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser) consultant, in order to identify the level of danger and the specific methods of treatment and transport according to current legislation.
