The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has announced the statewide use and implementation of Iteris, Inc.’s ClearGuide® Drives dashcam imagery, powered by Vizzion’s Drives service.

Iteris’ ClearGuide® mobility analytics platform provides transportation agencies with real-time traffic management tools and now integrates imagery from vehicles on the road directly into traffic management and workflows, enabling faster visual verification and improved situational awareness.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has officially become the first U.S. state agency to leverage dashcam imagery in ClearGuide, using the data provided to, among other things, analyze detected speeds and the real-time locations of traffic sign.

The integration incorporates Vizzion's Drives service directly into the ClearGuide interface. Vizzion provides one-frame-per-second imagery from an ever-expanding network of tens of thousands of connected dashcams installed on commercial vehicles.

North Carolina is thus paving the way for a new network of mobile sensors on vehicles traveling approximately 3 million miles per day, including approximately 900 vehicles that collectively travel more than 100,000 total miles per day throughout the state.
