Digital technologies can become a powerful driver for more sustainable, inclusive, and people-centered tourism.
This is the vision that emerged during the Italian-Japanese Round Table promoted by Almaviva inside the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, of which Almaviva is a partner. The event brought together institutional representatives, business leaders, and university professors to explore new opportunities for collaboration between the two countries.
The shared goal is to foster dialogue and cooperation on digital solutions that help make travel an authentic, accessible experience focused on people's well-being. Tourism that overcomes physical, cultural, and cognitive barriers, opening up spaces for participation and active citizenship, with technology serving people.
“Tourism is a central theme of the pavilion and one that we share deeply with Japan,” emphasized Gianfranco Previtera, Director of International Markets at Almaviva. “We’ve thought extensively about the challenges associated with an aging population and how technology can provide effective responses. From the role of social media to data sovereignty, these topics will be crucial to the industry’s future.”
Almaviva thus reaffirms its intention of playing a leading role in the development of innovative and inclusive tourism.
Participants in the roundtable included: Alessandro Mantelli – CTO, Almaviva; Gianfranco Previtera – Director of International Markets, Almaviva; Peter Fatelnig – Minister Counsellor for Digital Economy Policies at the Delegation of the European Union; Lanfranco Marasso – Head of International Digital Innovation & R&D, Almaviva; Stefania Bandini – University of Milan-Bicocca; Katsuhiro Nishinari – University of Tokyo: Stéphane P.
