31-10-2025

Mario Mendia, CEO of ReActive, the financial services company of Almaviva Group that has just won the first lot of the ECB tender for the digital Euro with Fabrick, opened his speech at the Payments Fair with these words: “A project that aims at inclusion and payment sovereignty. A very important challenge for us Europeans. As Almaviva Group, we bring a contribution of skills, credibility, and vision, strengthened by our experience and constant presence in the sector over the years.”

At the panel “Digital Euro is coming to town,” promoted by ABI and moderated by Rita Camporeale, Senior Advisor International Affairs & Payments ABI - Italian Banking Association, regarding Almaviva contribution to the digital euro project, Mendia recalled that the Group will be responsible for developing the mobile App that will allow all EU citizens to access the digital euro, as well as creating a dedicated software development kit (SDK), in addition to interfaces that will enable European payment service providers to easily integrate their services with the digital euro platform.

“This approach will promote widespread adoption of the new payment solution and foster innovation across the entire payments ecosystem, strengthening Europe technological autonomy. The digital euro is designed to make payments simpler, safer, and more accessible, complementing cash and enhancing financial inclusion throughout the euro area,” Mendia concluded.
