"Operation Safe Seas and Lakes 2026" kicks off: Almaviva gives its support to the Italian Coast Guard

16-06-2026

Today in Olbia the Italian Coast Guard's "Operation Safe Seas and Lakes" officially kicks off. From June to September, the men and women of the Coast Guard will be deployed daily along Italy’s coastlines and on the waters of the country’s three major – Garda, Maggiore, and Como – to ensure safety and provide assistance to swimmers, recreational boaters, divers, and anyone choosing to spend their vacation on or in the water.

Innovation and professionalism: as a sponsoring partner, Almaviva is supporting Operation Safe Seas and Lakes 2026, which is based on an integrated operational model that has always characterized the Coast Guard's approach to ensuring safety, environmental protection, and legality along Italy's coasts and lakes.

The 8,000 kilometers of monitored coastline and the management and updating of the VTS Vessel Traffic System - essential for ensuring constant and accurate monitoring of maritime traffic entering and leaving ports, managing complex information and rapid decision-making in the event of accidents or emergencies at sea, and coordinating search and rescue operations - fully integrate Almaviva into a system that contributes to ensuring the safety of human life at sea, safe navigation, and the protection of the marine environment.

Operation Safe Seas and Lakes kicked off today during an event held at the historic headquarters of the Porto Rotondo Yacht Club and was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Senator Matteo Salvini, and the Commandant General of the Italian Coast Guard, Chief Inspector Admiral Sergio Liardo, during a debate moderated by Captain Roberto D'Arrigo, Head of the Communications Office of the General Command, following the presentation of the 2025 results.
