A trial of MaaS (Mobility as a Service) services for the city of Rome is under way, thanks to a collaboration between Roma Servizi per la Mobilità and Almaviva, as part of the MaaS4Italy project, supported by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and using NRRP funds.

The objective is to promote environmental sustainability by reducing the use of private vehicles. As Eugenio Patanè, Councilor for Mobility in the Municipality of Rome, and Smeraldo Fiorentini, General Manager of Transportation & Logistics for Almaviva told TgR, the trial will continue until November, involving 10,000 residents who will be given access to the services provided by the various means of transportation offered in Rome’s metropolitan area through a single app in which they can choose the mode of travel (bus, metro, taxi, sharing services), pay with a single transaction, and be guaranteed the best route and the best fare.

“This trial will be very useful to us who work in the industry for receiving feedback from residents and calibrating the service according to their actual needs,” said Smeraldo Fiorentini, DG of Transportation & Logistics for Almaviva.
