The Japanese edition of Esquire, the prestigious fashion magazine, has named the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, "number 1 among the most stimulating, high culture" pavilions.
According to Esquire Japan, the Italy Pavilion offers “a full-spectrum sensory and artistic experience” in which architecture, art, food, and music come together harmoniously, so much so that the “even waiting on line almost becomes an integral part of the experience”.
Esquire also mentioned the Pavilion's Virtual Expo, created by Almaviva and EY in collaboration with the Italian Commissioner for Expo 2025 Osaka, which allows visitors to enjoy an immersive digital experience even remotely.
The exhibition offers a modern interpretation of the Renaissance concept of the "ideal city", showcasing masterpieces by Caravaggio and Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci's manuscripts, and the Farnese Atlas. These appear alongside contemporary works, the structure of the legendary biplane by Arturo Ferrarin (who completed a flight from Rome to Tokyo in 1920), and other high-tech achievements dedicated to aerospace, infrastructure, and underwater exploration. Esquire describes it as “a true celebration of Italy’s legendary artistic and scientific achievements”.
“We are delighted with this further recognition, this time from Esquire, a world-renowned publication that has always been attentive to the evolution of fashion, culture, and society,” said Mario Vattani, Italy’s General Commissioner for Expo 2025 Osaka. “We’re here with a specific mission: to update Italy's image in Japan and Asia, connecting—as the magazine highlights—the art of the past with the technological innovations that allow us to present our vision of a future society,” added Vattani.
