“Being an entrepreneur in Italy today is both an exhilarating and complex challenge.” This is how CEO Marco Tripi, in an interview with Capital, describes his role at the helm of Almaviva, a global tech group with deep roots in Italy and an increasingly international outlook.
“Today, entrepreneurs are becoming an increasingly rare breed. In our sector, 90% of them have disappeared, not just because of the challenges that any business might encounter, but also because many have chosen to give up, whether due to a lack of second or third-generation successors, or simply because the desire to monetize by selling, often to international funds that are highly skilled on the financial level but less so when it comes to industrial strategy, has prevailed.
I believe the true essence of entrepreneurship lies in the strong and balanced growth of a company, while maintaining a long-term vision” says Tripi in the interview with Leonardo Rastelli.
"In recent years, we’ve specialized in the development of proprietary technological products and solutions", with a focus on technological sovereignty, " not in the sense of protectionism, but in the ability to be open to the world while also remaining aware of our strengths and profound expertise.”
“We are focused on high-value markets”: AI, mobility, water management, healthcare, finance, security, with an eye towards space technology as well.
Artificial intelligence is a major area of development. The group operates in this field through Almawave, active since 2006 and listed on the Euronext Growth Milan market. The latest project developed by the company, unveiled in late January, is Velvet, a family of multilingual generative AI models.
