The 16th edition of “Mediterraneo da remare #PlasticFree #NoLitter” is officially underway. At 4 pm, the launch event will take place at the CNR (National Research Council) in Rome, with live streaming on Radio Radicale. The event will feature a keynote address by Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Italy’s Minister of the Environment and Energy Security.

The event will open with remarks from Andrea Lenzi, President of the National Research Council, followed by introductory speeches by Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, President of the UniVerde Foundation; Carmen Di Penta, Director of the Marevivo Foundation; and Alberto Tripi, President of Almaviva.

“Today we have a strategic ally in our effort to protect the sea: technological innovation, which allows us to transform data into knowledge, knowledge into decisions, and decisions into action. The quality of development is of fundamental importance to this process. And when digital technology fulfils this role, it’s more than innovation. It’s infrastructure for the common good.”

With these words, Alberto Tripi reaffirmed the Almaviva Group’s support for the UniVerde Foundation in combating all forms of sea and waterway pollution, in particular that caused by plastic waste, and promoting the transition from an outdated model of tourism to one that is sustainable and responsible with regard to rivers, lakes, and the sea.
