“We entered the water sector in 2023, when we realized it was lacking in digital support. Today we are a major player at the European level, with significant figures,” said Antonio Amati, Deputy CEO of Almaviva’s IT Division, speaking at the 2025 Acqua Summit.

  • Over 70 million cubic meters (or 70 billion liters) of water recovered annually thanks to Almaviva’s ongoing projects;
  • 30,000 km of network managed through a Smart Water Management System;
  • 1,500 digitalized systems;
  • A digital twin of over 20,000 km of network;
  • Over 138,000 km of water infrastructure monitored via satellite;
  • More than 10,000 leaks detected.

“Almaviva has launched a smart meter specifically designed for the water sector. With our digital solutions and technologies, we’re driving significant change."

At the event organized by Il Sole 24 Ore and moderated by Celestina Dominelli, Amati added: “Together with the Veneto Region, we piloted an analysis of water resource availability and demand. The data is there - it must be analyzed and transformed into actionable insights because anticipating needs, consumption, and availability in advance is fundamental. Especially in agriculture.”

“With Acquedotto Pugliese SpA, Almaviva has developed a sophisticated control room that uses artificial intelligence for predictive maintenance and will soon be enhanced with satellite and space data. This is an extremely successful use case, one that could also be applied to reservoirs.”
