Businesses are driving the revival of the Italy-US relationship, with supply chains, digital infrastructure, and critical technologies at the center. This was the topic of discussion in Washington during the event co-organized by Decode39 at the Wilson Center, on occasion of the visit by Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti, who took stock of how industry and innovation are accelerating a partnership that politics still struggles to make fully operational.
On behalf of Almaviva, Roberto Scaramella, General Manager of Transportation and International, took part in the meeting, emphasizing that Italy and the United States share trust and an industrial foundation, but not yet the speed necessary to compete on a global scale.
This transatlantic relationship is based on three fundamental aspects: co-investments in critical technologies (like semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and secure communications) to strengthen supply chains and make them more resilient; the creation of true industrial corridors capable of combining Italian design with American scale to set global standards; and the transition from simple client-supplier relationships to partnerships based on equity and shared research and development. This approach has already been tested by the Almaviva Group, including through the acquisition of Iteris in North America, which has made it possible to significantly reduce product development cycles and share expertise across the Atlantic.
