“The digital euro is intended to be the digital currency of the European Central Bank. In football - where digital payments, e-commerce, and ticketing coexist - the digital euro will offer the highest level of reliability and thus serve as a “trust layer” for the entire value chain.” These were the words of Gianfranco Previtera, International Market Director, speaking at SFS 25 on a panel dedicated to the relationship between the digital Euro and the football economy and hosted by SFS - Social Football Summit, entitled "Digital Euro, Data and Fans: Italy Leads Europe’s Payment Revolution".
“Almaviva and the ECB are defining the operational details for the launch of the digital euro app’s pilot phase, with digital sovereignty, security, and usability being at the core of the project’s development.”
"The introduction of the digital euro will, in the future, allow for the convergence of tangible and intangible services that can also be purchased on various platforms, all based on the same European standard.
These services won’t be limited to banking or finance, but will also be implemented in the daily lives of Europeans, starting with large-scale gatherings and sporting events, like what we see today at SFS.”
