“When it comes to information technology, the training approach must be twofold. On the one hand there’s the technical-specialist content, mainly STEM. On the other hand, domain-specific training is also necessary - which is our field - considering that ICT applies to many market sectors, such as cultural heritage, transportation, and healthcare, just to name a few,” said Marina Irace, Group HR Director for the Almaviva Group, in an interview with Claudio Tucci in Il Sole 24 Ore, talking about the training program offered by the group's Academy.
Through its academies, Almaviva invests in the continuous development of its employees, offering programs that focus on the integration of multiple training methods, including classroom instruction, on-the-job training, and asynchronous training.
There is also a strong focus on AI training. Within Almaviva’s Academies, aimed at upskilling and reskilling, a dedicated training program has been created for each employee group to foster understanding and encourage the opportunities offered by AI, enabling the skills necessary for its optimal use. To date, more than 900 developers and about 400 analysts have already been trained. By July, another 400 analysts and programmers will complete training. And a new program for project managers is also about to kick off. Onboarding plays a central role. “For several years now,” Irace continued, “we’ve offered Academies dedicated to recent high school and college graduates joining the group, with different topics, duration, and schedules depending on what area of the company they’re entering.”
One example is the MoovA Academy, named after Almaviva’s software development platform, a blended learning program that offers multiple delivery methods and a great deal of cutting-edge content to truly enter the world of digital transformation. “Young people passionate about sustainable mobility can, within the company, develop skills and learn about trends in technological innovation applied to the integrated mobility sector, as well as relevant topics such as the cities of the future, green transportation, and the security of terminal hubs.” Present and future: for the strategic development of the new Global AI Division, in the coming months, in Italy alone, 30 PhDs and computer science experts will be recruited, in addition to 80 high-profile technicians, in order support the company’s growth with concrete market applications and real world experiences.
