40 million “digital traces” and 876,000 points of interest analyzed: Basilicata has the best online reputation, while Langhe Monferrato Roero offers the best food and wine. The Destination Sustainability Index award was won by Trentino-Alto Adige and the Inclusivity Index award by the city of Bologna. The Secondary City award, focusing for the first time on smaller cities that perform well in terms of economic growth, particularly due to their tourism industry, was given to Pesaro. The favorite destination among foreigners in Italy is Umbria, followed by Trentino-Alto Adige and Basilicata. Meanwhile, the favorite foreign destination among Italians is Crete, in Greece, a nation that received the same recognition in 2022 with the Aegean Islands. Runners up are two Spanish destinations: the Canary Islands and Andalusia. The city of Bari received the special Almawave Smart Destination award for its outstanding innovative, digital, and data-driven management. Emilia-Romagna, on the other hand, was given the Special Cashless Destination award, for being the destination that registered the highest use of electronic transactions.

These are the tourist destinations that stood out in the eyes of tourists and visitors in terms of online perception, with a particular focus on the overall products and attractions offered and on the quality of hospitality, services, and experiences according to "Italia Destinazione Digitale", the Oscars of the tourism industry, awarded by The Data Appeal Company - Almawave Group within the TTG Travel Experience, Italy's benchmark event for the promotion of world tourism, which kicked off yesterday in Rimini.

The awards ceremony was accompanied by the exclusive presentation of the “2023 All Italian Data” report, a study that aims to measure the state of Italian tourism, as experienced and shared by online users between 2022 and 2023.
