  • A tourism analysis and monitoring system designed to understand the wideranging effects on the City of Naples.
  • Developed as part of the NA VITA project, by Almaviva Digitaltec, with the support of Fondazione Quartieri Spagnoli ETS FoQus.

The NA VITA research project was presented yesterday at Fondazione Quartieri Spagnoli ETS - FoQus. The initiative aims to create a model for analyzing and monitoring tourism.  Developed by Almaviva Digitaltec, a company of Almaviva Group, with the support of Fondazione Quartieri Spagnoli ETS - FoQus, the project is seeks to understand the many impacts of overtourism in and around the City of Naples, through a scientific approach, community engagement, and data analysis.

The result of an integrated approach, the project applied three different research methods: a scientific framework to identify the most significant areas of impact; surveys distributed to residents, to gather their general perceptions and feelings; and analysis of synthetic indicators and impact coefficients, based on both official and simulated data, to analyze the relationships between tourism and urban dynamics.

The model, now being refined and tested, marks a significant step toward the creation of digital tools that can support public decision-making processes, with a focus on sustainability and balancing tourism appeal with residents' quality of life.

“We wanted to build a bridge between research, technology, and urban reality," said Aniello Ciervo, CTO of Almaviva Digitaltec. “The NA VITA model, implemented in Naples, was designed to help all tourist destinations grow in a way that is open and welcoming, while also being mindful of the need to manage the potential negative effects of overtourism."

NA VITA (Naples Assessment of the Impact of Tourism on the City) is a project co-funded by the inter-university consortium iNEST - Interconnected Nord-Est Innovation Ecosystem - Project code ECS000043 - CUP H69J24000300008 - National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) - Spoke 6 Tourism, Culture and Creative Industries coordinated by Ca' Foscari University Venice.
