“Compensating for the digital mismatch with in-company training.” - Human Resources Officer Marina Irace in Affari & Finanza

“The IT industry is full of job opportunities. The work is there, the workers aren’t,” writes Affari & Finanza today. In the article, Marina Irace (Chief Human Resources Officer for the AlmavivA Group) emphasizes that it is possible to compensate for the digital mismatch through in-company training.

This year, the AlmavivA Group expects to fill one thousand digital positions in Italy. “Given that universities are producing an insufficient number of graduates to satisfy the industry’s needs,” explains Marina Irace, “about half of the individuals that we plan to hire are graduates, of either technical computer institutes or mathematical scientific high schools. We also have school-work exchange programs for roles such as developer, programmer, or other professions related to infrastructures which manage data and we offer apprenticeship contracts. We also hire from ITS, so individuals who have professional skills that are equivalent to those of three-year graduates.”

Aside from specialists, the demand for IT skills now pervades other sectors as well: “For pubic administrations’ NRRP projects, graduates with a degree in Cultural Heritage or Biomedical Engineering and management engineers, who also possess digital skills, are needed,” continues AlmavivA’s HR Officer. “In this case we provide the IT training, with courses that last about a month.”
