The 29th National Conference of PIARC Italy, the World Road Association, will take place in the heart of Rome on May 24th and 25th. At that time, technical committees will present the outcome of a four-year operational study of all road-related matters, also taking into account international best practices.

The national conference is an opportunity to talk about new technologies applied to the monitoring of bridges, viaducts, and tunnels, automation and “smart roads”, asset and finance management, environmental sustainability and sustainable mobility, cybersecurity, climate change and disaster management, and much more: topics united by the issues of . road safety, investment efficiency, sustainability, and service to users.

“The ‘smart road’ initiatives include the application of systems and services that perform predictive maintenance and, in particular, help manage winter activities. Almaviva has developed the DSS component which supports decision-making processes and uses the most innovative digital technologies to enable efficient responses in the management of maintenance activities as well as more effective management of traffic in adverse weather conditions. All to make driving on our roads safer.”

These were the words with which Paolo Pisani, Business Unit Director of Almaviva’s Transport Infrastructure & Logistics Department, began his speech at the conference during the presentation of the Technical Committee 3.2’s study on winter services.
