Italy's curling team came close to winning the gold medal at the recently concluded European Championships in Aberdeen (Scotland), where the Italian women's team, captained by Olympic athlete Stefania Constantini, won the silver medal with teammates Elena Antonia Mathis, Giulia Zardini Lacedelli, and Angela Romei.
It’s the fourth time the women's team has secured a medal in the continental event, having previously won silvers in 1982 and 2006, and a bronze in 2017.
This result is particularly important for the Constantini Almaviva team in view of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics.
“We played a great match against a very strong team. I’m very proud of our journey. We’ve grown with each game and the last two matches have been our best,” commented Stefania Constantini.
The team, upon returning to Cortina from the European Championships, received a warm welcome at the Town Hall from Mayor Gianluca Lorenzi and from the Sports Councilor Giorgio Darin. Also present were coach Violetta Caldart and the President of the Dolomiti Curling Club, Alessandro Zisa.
