“The future of Smart Cities”: the contribution of the European research project SCENE in the Live Webinar of May 28th

22-05-2020

The appointment is for May 28th with the Live Webinar promoted by “SCENE - Smart City on the Edge Network Enhancements” (Horizon 2020 Call - European Innovation Council - Fast Track to Innovation 2018–2020), the European research project of which AlmavivA is a partner.

The debate will focus on the future of that space designed on a human scale which we call “Smart City”, in which frontier technologies pave the way for a series of entirely new services, without depleting the environment or the public finances, involving sectors such as mobility, work, entertainment, health and bureaucratic procedures. The easier the life of citizens the more efficient and sustainable it becomes to administratively run local territories which are increasingly “smart”, thanks to large amounts of data ensuring targeted interventions in real time.

It is in this context that SCENE will intervene to create an IoT platform for frontier Mobile Edge Computing in which a “vehicular network” of Intelligent Gateways, installed on board vehicles traveling through the city, collect data as they transit through low-cost and low-range IoT wireless sensors—a decisive factor for the creation of an ecosystem of new services and startups. The European partners of SCENE envision an open platform, in which Smart City Service Providers can install their own applications to bring data elaboration directly near the sensors deployed.
