The National Center for Sustainable Mobility’s certificate of incorporation has been signed by 25 universities and associated research centers and 24 major corporations, key players in the world of mobility and infrastructure. The measures outlined in the NRRP, Mission 4.2, “From Research to Business”, go into effect.

“We look at the creation of the National Center as an opportunity to synergistically and expertly help new mobility models to evolve and to contribute to the structural growth of a strategic system for our country. Based on the investments in research and innovation that have been made in the sector and on the projects for the digital transformation of mobility that have been implemented over the years, AlmavivA has been an active part of the Center since it was founded, ready to provide expertise, laboratories, and solutions,” says Alberto Tripi, president of AlmavivA.

The center was established with the mission of accompanying the green and digital transition from a sustainable perspective.

Key themes are: decarbonization, decongestion of transportation networks, smart and connected autonomous mobility, vehicle and infrastructure safety, accessibility, and entry of new skills and expertise in the market.

Five technological areas and fields are of greatest interest: air mobility, sustainable road vehicles, water transport, rail transport, lightweight vehicles, and active mobility.

The National Center will work to make the mobility system “greener” as a whole and more “digital” in its management through lightweight solutions and electric and hydrogen propulsion systems, digital systems for accident reduction, more effective public transportation and logistics solutions, and a new model of mobility as a service, that’s accessible and inclusive.

“The National Mobility Center responds to one of the key missions of the NRRP: to transition from research to business from the perspective of an extended supply chain and collaboration. Its strengths will be highly technological projects created with the specific intention of providing a tangible response to the country’s needs, with a long-term outlook that extends beyond the 2026 deadline. This is our commitment. This is the opportunity to implement structural reforms. An initiative that we’re willing to see through all the way to the end,” comments Ferruccio Resta, Rector of the Politecnico di Milano, the Center for Sustainable Mobility’s proponent organization.
