“While in most cases the opposite happens, new technological platforms exist which were created in Italy and which travel the world, conquering new markets. This is the case for Moova, developed by AlmavivA, an Italian digital innovation group led by CEO Marco Tripi, which has a network consisting of 25 companies (including the listed company Almawave), 70 offices in Italy and around the world, and 45,000 employees: 10,000 in Italy and 35,000 abroad.
One of the most interesting things to consider is that more than 70% of the €974 million turnover comes from the IT sector and new technologies. To understand how an Italian company that’s able to compete on a global scale works, I spoke with Smeraldo Fiorentini, General Manager of the Transportation & Logistics division. With a degree in computer science, he has worked in industry and consulting and is currently involved in digitalizing transportation. That means simplifying and improving the travel experience, through integrated tickets, smart stations, the monitoring of traffic and congestion, intelligent traffic lights, predictive maintenance, etc., all supported by an artificial intelligence system that continuously seeks the most efficient solution.”
