A day dedicated to energy saving and sustainable life styles, devised by Rai Radio 2 and the Caterpillar breakfast show

Again this year AlmavivA is taking part in the initiative, organised by Caterpillar and Rai Radio 2, to help raise awareness on the issue of energy efficiency and the recycling of materials.

M'illumino di Meno returns on 1 March 2019, this time focusing on the circular economy. The basic rule is to reuse materials, reduce waste and put off the "end of life" of things. The watchwords are: Re-generate, Re-cycle Re-fish, Re-think, Re-fuse and Re-spect... And AlmavivA would like to recall “Ri-tappo e Ri-duco” (I recork and I reduce), two of the main initiatives within its certified social, energy and environmental management systems.

With the "Un tappo a forma di cuore” (A heart-shaped cork) initiative, held only in the Group’s Rome offices, a good 1000 kg of bottle caps were collected in the course of 2018. These were turned into 285 night nappies and 80 packs of tissues and wet wipes for donation to shelters and foster homes.

From 2009 to 2013, the AlmavivA Group successfully reduced its per-capita energy consumption by 63%, thanks to a combination of behavioural models, organisational changes and systems and logistics management. And in the years following, resource management has improved yet again. Here are a few examples: In 2018 the Group headquarters further reduced its electricity and carbon dioxide consumption (2% down from 2017), despite a higher on-site staff presence (up 8%); overall paper consumption was severely reduced (down 16%) – the Milan office in particular reduced its consumption by 47%.
