Almaviva joins the Fondazione per la Sostenibilità Digitale, the first recognized Italian research foundation dedicated to digital sustainability, which already includes 13 Italian universities and the most important Italian and international companies, leaders in their respective sectors.

“In our view, digital technology is a driver of value that can be perceived by people and is a catalyst for growth in social, economic, and environmental contexts, an essential tool for moving consistently and steadfastly in the direction indicated by the SDGs. Joining the foundation allows us to combine our values, skills and experiences to the benefit of shared goals and projects,” commented Marco Tripi, CEO of the Almaviva Group.

“We’re very happy that Almaviva has joined the foundation,” stated Stefano Epifani, president of the Fondazione per la Sostenibilità Digitale. “Becoming one of the foundation’s partners means, above all, joining the first and most qualified Italian network dedicated to digital sustainability. Each partner participates in research activities and has priority access to data and results, can sponsor conferences and seminars and promote training and outreach activities, and has privileged access to all of the foundation’s services,” continued Epifani.

The foundation draws inspiration from and aligns itself with the Manifesto for Digital Sustainability, a vision of technology’s role in creating a sustainable future. The document defines the principles according to which technological development must contribute to “satisfying the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own.”

“Through research, communication, education, and advocacy initiatives, the foundation aims to contribute to the achievement of the goals set by the 2030 Agenda on sustainability, seeking to transform technology into a tool that serves sustainability and to develop a structured reflection on how digitalization should be implemented based on sustainability criteria, also with reference to the role of online platforms and the economic and social phenomena associated with them, thus turning technology into an object of sustainability,” concluded Epifani.
