Replatform of car rental platform providing with data analysis on driving behaviour and vehicle performance
The customer is a leading firm in the automotive industry providing with telematics services and data analysis for the insurance sector, mainly known for telematics solutions and IoT analysis for car insurance.
The need is to ensure security and compliance with international standards for own solutions which allow insurance companies to collect and analysis data on driving behaviour and vehicle performance, in order to offer customer-tailored and competitive insurance policies in terms of price.
By using a replatform strategy, the project aims to transfer existing on-premise systems of the car rental platform on a cloud infrastructure, implementing robust security measures.
The migration complies with international security standards, ensuring an exhaustive protection of cloud resources, by covering information assets during and after the migration process.
In order to revamp the application infrastructure and improve its scalability, the implemented solution includes migration to a container platform, by exploiting AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and Amazon RDS.
The adopted approach facilitates an efficient orchestration of workloads via means of Kubernetes, and enables a better resource management and a high availability for container applications.
AWS EKS provides with a managed, safe, and scalable Kubernetes control plan,by reducing operational burdens and ensuring compatibility with native Kubernetes tools.
The implementation of RDS allows the management of relational databases, offering automated backup, patching, and scalability.
Container architecture simplifies distribution pipelines, improves system resilience, in line with Almaviva Group commitment to exploiting cloud-native solutions for its customers.
Migration to an AWS EKS- and RDS-based container platform produces significant benefits, mainly in terms of accelerating the release of new functionalities.
By adopting a DevOps approach combined with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), development & operations teams achieve a higher level of cooperation, automation, and consistency in distribution pipelines.
Using IaC tools ensures a consistent and repeatable infrastructure provisioning, verified through versioning, reducting the chances to configuration drift, and providing with a fast scalability of resources to meet the demand.
In addition, AWS platform provides with integrated security functionalities and best practice, improving the overall system security posture.
Container architecture also allows seamless scalability, ensuring infrastructure adjustment to increasing workloads, keeping high availability and performance.
