The event on "Specialist technical training and employment - The experience by ELIS: training, growth and jobs for young people", sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Rome, in partnership with Unioncamere and Confindustria, will be held at the Tempio di Adriano, in Piazza di Pietra, Rome.

The key highlights of the first five years of the "School-Business Network" program - launched in 2008 by the ELIS Consortium and sponsored by the Ministry of Education - are 183 participating schools, 12 businesses, 8,500 students, 160 business management experts and 340 teachers. The program fosters partnerships between schools and businesses, for training and employing young people primarily with technical and vocational qualifications.

Today's event provides an overview of the results of the various projects carried out in partnership with various businesses, AlmavivA, Telecom Italia, Saipem, eFM, Porti di Roma, ANACAM.
Representatives of schools and other institutions will discuss the issues of innovation, youth employment and the effectiveness of the School-Business Network model, to identify opportunities for extending the Network to other schools, businesses and employer associations: Alessandro Rinaldi (UNIONCAMERE - Sistema informativo Excelsior), Paolo Macchi (ISIS "Facchinetti" Castellanza (VA)), Liliana Tessaroli (Head of the Department of Labor, Region of Lazio), Sergio Utili (President of the ELIS Consortium), Gabriele Toccafondi (Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Education (MIUR), Barbara Corrao (journalist, Il Messaggero), Antonio Napolitano (Director, INAIL Lazio), Claudio Gentili (Director, Confindustria Education), Cristina Sottotetti (Managing Director, Setter), Franco Mileto (Headmaster, ITS "Pegasus" Polistena (RC)).

AlmavivA is represented by Marco Neri, SW Technology Innovation Manager, who speaks on "Schools: desk or virtual desktop?" with Riccardo Di Liberto of ELIS.
"Beyond the frontier of tablets at school there are virtual desktops - said Marco Neri - like the one designed by the students taking part in the AlmavivA Summer Camp. It's a prototype that works with specialized computer platforms, developed entirely by students and teachers".

It was a wonderful experience - said Michela Recchia, a 17-year old student of the Pacinotti School in Rome - first of all we learnt to work together, as a team; we were 28 students from all over Italy and we didn't know how to interact. Then we started working on the idea of a virtual desktop infrastructure, which we completed developing a prototype of the desktop. The most incredible aspect was becoming part of a work environment where we could prove and test our skills". Is the project just for talented pupils? "I have good grades at school - Michela admits - but I've also understood that what counts most is passion".
