The first prize at the Hackathon SkillZone goes to “IoTappo” developed by the ELIS team, which collaborates with AlmavivA

IoTappo is the prototype of an IoT tool developed by the ELIS team, which partners with AlmavivA, and has won the first prize at the Hackathon SkillZone. Applied to wine bottles, it can measure the state of preservation of the wine, thanks to special sensors, and trace the bottle through Blockchain.

“IoT – Machine Learning – Blockchain for agricultural production” was the project within which the application has been developed. The Hackathon focused on two fields, IoT and Data Analysis, and on various technological elements applied to agriculture. The case in question required the development of a solution for supply chain production and tracing, to ensure both product and production process quality and combat fraud.

The result is IoTappo, which received a prize at the end of the Hackathon event on 20 January.

SkillZone is the first training program in Europe, developed by Cisco Systems in partnership with the Rome-based consortium ELIS, the purpose of which is to select 40 undergraduates and graduates in scientific subjects and train them in the development of IoT platforms and applications.
