The “Il Digitale nel Lazio 2023” Report, promoted by Anitec-Assinform and Unindustria - Union of Industrialists and Businesses in Rome, Frosinone, Latina, Rieti, and Viterbo, was presented on June 10th in Ponza at the ARIA event organized by the Young Entrepreneurs Group of Unindustria.

2022 was a year of significant growth in Lazio’s digitalization process. The regional ICT market surpassed €13 billion, up 4.4% as compared to 2021 and representing a 16.8% share of the national ICT expenditure.

The study, carried out in partnership with Almaviva, paints a positive picture, both from the perspective of demand, or how much companies and public administrations are investing in digital technology, and from the perspective of supply, or how well the ecosystem of ICT companies, research institutions, and training networks is able to deploy adequate ICT skills, in terms of quantity and quality, in order to meet the demand for digitalization in Lazio’s economy.

“The study revealed that Lazio, thanks to the presence of a well-knit entrepreneurial fabric made up of outstanding ICT expertise, major Italian and multinational companies, universities, and research centers, as well as central public administrations, has all the credentials to become a true hub of digital excellence and a leader in Italy’s monumental process of transformation. Sectors such as information and communication technology, artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and many more are the foundation on which to build a dynamic and competitive digital ecosystem,” commented Alberto Tripi, Vice President in charge of Digital Transformation at Unindustria, in his presentation of the report.

“The dynamics highlighted in the report demonstrate how a competitive ecosystem is taking shape in Lazio, leveraging a concentration of advanced ICT skills, startups, innovative entrepreneurship, stakeholders, and processes for the transfer of technology. All these elements place Lazio among the most attractive and internationally competitive regions,” said Marco Gay, President of Anitec-Assinform, the Confindustria association of leading ICT companies.
