Under heavy snowfall, the 46th edition of the international ski race kicked off yesterday in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Sports values, vital for the growth of local areas and communities, were the guiding theme in an inaugural ceremony full of sound and light. From today, 600 athletes and 71 nations will compete in this eagerly-awaited event in Italy. Cortina itself will, of course, go on to host no less than the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The previous day saw the official presentation of the Situation Room, which will house the integrated control center of the Cortina 2021 mobility system, made possible thanks to the platform provided by AlmavivA as Technical Partner of the event.

“Public and private collaboration has created a technologically innovative mobility management model that is among the first of its kind in Europe,” said AlmavivA Chairman, Alberto Tripi. “Through the Moova platform, the Situation Room performs real-time monitoring of traffic, car park occupancy and any abnormal situations affecting road conditions. It also monitors public transport services and delivers timely and complete information to users getting around.”

Besides Mr. Tripi, Saturday’s event was also attended by Veneto Region Vice President and Head of Infrastructure and Transport, Elisa De Berti and senior management figures from ANAS SpA, CAV and Veneto Strade SpA.
