“The tourist at the forefront without any more setbacks” was the theme of the press conference which ended BIT - The International Travel Exhibition 2020, during the course of which Governor Luca Zaia presented “Veneto Outdoor”, the new mobile app dedicated to people wanting to discover the regional landscape in total safety.

Roughly 12,500 kilometers (7,700 miles) of itineraries and trails to be explored on foot, by bicycle, on horseback, with snowshoes or with skis, using as a “travel companion” a complete and safe digital guide—a free application deriving from the collaboration between the ICT and Digital Agenda Management Committee of the Veneto Region and AlmavivA.

Thanks to its cultural heritage, landscape and variety of environments and ecosystems, Veneto is one of the world’s most renowned and sought-after tourist destinations, one of Italy’s most welcoming regions and the first overall in terms of number of tourists. An Italian excellence that is currently showcasing its competitiveness these days in one of the most influential tourism events worldwide.

This is the first application to promote tourist itineraries by exploiting the certified “open data” model, a technology that will allow entities, associations and mere enthusiasts to request the inclusion of itineraries they themselves have studied and arranged. Over the forthcoming months, the Veneto Outdoor database will be enriched with several contents: weather forecasts, information of public interest and much more.
