Sixty speakers, forty scientific papers, five workshops, fifteen start-ups and twenty sponsors. These are the figures for ITASEC2019, the third national conference on cybersecurity, hosted by the city of Pisa from 12 to 15 February.
The conference will open with a speech by Defence Minister Elisabetta Trenta. There will follow contributions from Roberto Viola, Director General of DG Connect of the European Commission, Professor Roberto Baldoni, Deputy Director General of the Department of Information for Security (DIS) of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers with responsibility for cybersecurity, and Professor Massimo Inguscio, President of the National Research Council (CNR).
Organised by the CINI National Cybersecurity Laboratory, the conference will bring together researchers and practitioners from academia, industry and government to discuss emerging challenges in the field of cybersecurity. The conference sessions will address themes such as security of networks and infrastructures, Blockchain use, Artificial Intelligence, Biometrics and Quantum Computing. Other issues include: the development of cyber-ranges for the cybersecurity training of civilian and military personnel; the reliability of electronic voting systems and network anonymity tools; the use of machine learning to counter cyber-attacks. The protection of banks, businesses and institutions from the most common – and evolving – cyber threats.
Completing the range of scientific and technological aspects, the workshops and tutorials will cover the economic, political and legal aspects of cybersecurity. An ad hoc meeting on the new European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will reflect on its state of implementation and the constraints and opportunities it creates for companies and citizens. The event will be also an opportunity to reward the team of Italian cyberdefenders representing Italy in the European Cybersecurity Challenge competition series.
