Machine Learning, Optimization, Data Science: the Almawave experience at LOD2020 through 23 July

20-07-2020

Yesterday marked the opening of the sixth edition of the ICAS Conference on Machine Learning, Optimization, Big Data & Artificial Intelligence. ICAS is the international studies center that invited a small number of speakers to the Sienese city of Certosa di Pontignano and hundreds of experts connected from all over the world.

This is an important edition of LOD2020 which also boasts the participation of Yoshua Bengio. Full Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Operations Research, Head of the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms (MILA), CIFAR Program co-Director of the CIFAR program on Learning in Machines and Brains, Canada Research Chair in Statistical Learning Algorithms, Bengio is considered the father of Artificial Intelligence and, in 2018, he received the ACM A.M. Turing Award, the “Nobel Prize” of Computer Science, for his work on Deep Learning.

Almawave will participate in the event once again this year as one of the major Italian players in speech & text recognition applied to customer experience management and advanced analytics. Vincenzo Sciacca, who heads the Cognitive Solutions team at Almawave, has been busy since yesterday as tutor and chairman of various sessions on the schedule. Today's keynote speakers include CTO Raniero Romagnoli, who is presenting a paper on Natural Language Processing entitled “NLP for Close Domain Applications with Real World Data: an hybrid approach to jointly leverage prior domain knowledge, reasoning techniques and deep learning”.
