The April 30 event at the air base of the Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare) - 1st Aircraft Maintenance Unit in Cameri

On April 30, at the air base of the Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare) - 1st Aircraft Maintenance Unit in Cameri (NO), a one-day event was held entirely dedicated to artificial intelligence and its applications in the aeronautical field for the Logistics 4.0 program, at the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force LTG Alberto Rosso and of the Logistics Commander of the Italian Air Force LTG Giovanni Fantuzzi.

For AlmavivA there were Antonio Amati, General Manager of the AlmavivA IT Division, the Defense and Security Business Unit represented by the Sales Manager, Roberto De Finis, and the Practice Data, GIS & AI Solutions Division with Antonio Cerqua and Elena Gagliardoni, who presented the results of the work completed over the past few months focusing on predictive maintenance of the EJ200 turbofan engine of the EuroFighter 2000 used by the Italian Air Force.

The event offered the opportunity to present the new AlmavivA tool dedicated to predictive maintenance of EJ200 engines, which, thanks to artificial intelligence technologies applied to the analysis of data supplied by the engines, is able to identify the onset of a fault’s propagation. Through Deep Learning and Explainable AI algorithms it was possible to develop classification models of the engine’s condition, regression models to estimate the number of cycles before a fault and identification models of the engine components that are about to get damaged.

At the end of the event, the Italian Air Force expressed its appreciation of the advantages generated by the use of the technologies developed by AlmavivA and their importance for the development of the Air Force’s Logistics 4.0 program.
