AISM [Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association] and its FISM Foundation awarded the “2022 ICPerMed Best Practice in Personalised Medicine Recognition” to the “BARCODING MS” project.

Today in Pamplona, the president of the Italian Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Mario Alberto Battaglia, accepted the award, which acknowledges excellence in the collecting and sharing of data from people with multiple sclerosis and in the ability to create a network, presenting the project within the workshop "Preparing the Future for Personalised Medicine (EP PerMed)."

The aim of the project is to develop a kind of identification code for each patient, a multidimensional snapshot of the disease, allowing data from different sources to communicate, thus helping to gain knowledge about disease progression, treatments, and causes of multiple sclerosis.

This important European recognition acknowledges, first and foremost, the network of researchers, Italian MS clinical centers, and research institutions that have supported AISM and its foundation in this challenge, with the involvement of OBDA Systems, a subsidiary of the Almawave Group, which has always provided technical support to research activities.

Technological innovation is making a big difference in medicine and healthcare. As the amount of available data and processing capabilities grow, artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly effective in supporting physicians in their diagnosis, treatment plans, and monitoring of patients.
