The Italian Railway Network (Gruppo FS Italiane) has launched SalaBlu+, the app created by AlmavivA which makes train travel easier for people with disabilities or reduced mobility (even if these issues are only temporary).

The new app offers dedicated services and allows the user to book them via smartphone for over 300 stations in which the service is on offer. A click is all it takes to book assistance for accessing a departing train and settling into an assigned seat plus assistance on arrival, in addition to receiving notifications and up-to-date information concerning your journey and departure and arrival timetable details.

SalaBlu+ is a significant result which was largely driven by the platform devised previously by AlmavivA for RFI: the SalaBlu Online portal, which can be used to access the same services on the web and was created in accordance with accessibility regulations.

SalaBlu+ has obtained certification from Fondazione ASPHI Onlus (Foundation for the Startup and Development of Projects for reducing Disabilities through I.T.) due to its adherence to the guidelines for accessibility published by W3C (World Wide Web Consortium).
