Industry 4.0: competitive digital transformation. AlmavivA at the forefront at the Confindustria Road Show

AlmavivA featured prominently at the Road Show promoted by Confindustria (General Confederation of Italian Industry) to explain to local entrepreneurs how to tackle the digital evolution of companies towards 4.0 manufacturing.

Alessandro Mantelli – Manager of AlmavivA IoT, Industry 4.0, Energy Management & EAI Practice and member of the Industry 4.0 Task Force of Federmeccanica – intervened during the events held in Belluno, Perugia and L’Aquila.

For Italy to embrace Industry 4.0, besides the stable connection between machines, objects, cloud applications and people, companies must be tangibly attracted to the new technologies and services, merging them with the digital evolution of their internal processes for generating value.

Nowadays, companies are having to face increasingly complex challenges at a faster pace: shortening the time to market, simplifying and integrating manufacturing processes, cooperating with customers and suppliers to identify and create increasingly customised and complex products, and enhancing production flexibility in relation to market fluctuations. These objectives can hardly be attained without a significant transformation of processes aimed at making them more integrated, collaborative and efficient.

Focusing on industrial automation alone is no longer sufficient: digitalisation of processes and the growing connectivity in factories and companies will allow for reaching previously unimaginable levels of performance and efficiency.

The decisive factor is not optimisation, but the flexibility of systems, the ability to tangibly create an innovative idea and produce custom products – characteristics for which “Made in Italy” has become one of the world’s leading brands. Interconnectivity, interoperability and optimisation of data generated during the production process and in the after-sales phase are essential elements of the new market models.

The fundamental starting point is the acquisition and elaboration of data already generated. Data is the new company asset and it must be optimised by adequately qualified resources for the challenges that lie ahead.

AlmavivA is at the forefront in the reshaping of Italy’s industrial market, because the way to boost the country’s competitiveness involves digitalisation and system integration – fields in which AlmavivA is leader in Italy.
