"Donating organs as an identity trait": AlmavivA for the pilot project by the CCM Umbria

Within the framework of the Contract entered into with the Ministry of Health, AlmavivA is also responsible for managing the development and maintenance of the functionalities of the SIT – Transplant IT Solution of the Ministry of Health, and the technical operation of the relevant systems.

The SIT is a continuously evolving solution, as required by the National Transplant Centre (CNT), due to the need to tackle broader and broader challenges.

AlmavivA has also taken part in the pilot project on "Donating organs as an identity trait " launched by the CCM Umbria (National Centre for Preventing and Controlling Disease).

The key feature of the project is that, in the region of Umbria, and in particular in Terni and Perugia, residents above legal age may make known their decision about whether or not to become a donor of organs and tissue, when they apply for or renew their ID Card, which decision is then directly registered in the Transplant Information System of the Ministry of Health, through application cooperation, with legal effects.
The project – developed jointly by the Region of Umbria, the Ministry of Health, the National Transplant Centre and Federsanità-Anci – aims at testing the procedure contained in the so-called “Decreto Milleproroghe”, relating to the recording of organ donation pledges by members of the public, by specifying their decision on their ID card and registering with the SIT.
The project has been unanimously greeted by the various institutions involved (Health Ministry, CNT, Region of Umbria, Federsanità, ANCI, Interior Ministry,...) and the decision has been announced of extending the system to other communes in the Region and, later on, to other Regions and nationwide.
