All the electronic equipment for mission management, navigation, look-out and communications used by the meteoric Fast Interceptor, which will compete to beat the record for the Venice-Monaco crossing, are provided by AlmavivA.

The technology used in the Italian military prototype Fast Interceptor, a 3,200 horsepower, twin-engine, 20-meter boat is from AlmavivA. The watercraft is able to reach speeds of nearly 180 km/h, achieved a few days ago by the former off-shore motor-boating champion, Giancarlo Corbelli.

Leaving from Marina di Carrara, it reached Cannes on the French Riviera by sea, where it took part in the Yachting Festival on the elegant Croisette, where over 500 watercraft were presented, including 100 in their world premiers.

After the Festival in Cannes, the boat returned to Marina di Carrara for the final round of testing before the start of the race for the Venice-Monaco record, planned for 20-24 September. The excitement surrounding the challenge is palpable: an event that could create a new record for speed at sea.

The current record for the 2,113 kilometre crossing is 22 hours and 13 minutes, at an average of 51 knots per hour (94 km) and has held since 2004. The former champion will attempt to destroy it, reducing the time by a good 4 hours, going from 22 to 18 hours.

The instrumentation that AlmavivA has provided on board the military prototype regards mission management, navigation, look-out and communication. Through a next-generation "on-the-move" satellite connection, the mission data and streamed video from on-board video cameras will be transmitted to the land locations, making it possible to see the same view as the helmsman on the bridge, in real time and for the entire crossing.

The watercraft was created at the Navale Vittoria di Adria shipyard (Rovigo, Italy), and is the fruit of the partnership between the Polesine company and its partners, Power Marine and Fast Service.

AlmavivA will also participate in the event in Venice as a sponsor of the initiative.
