AlmavivA Contact: agreement for the reorganisation of the Naples site and relaunching of its production

First goal: economic equilibrium. Shared commitment to manage the crisis, safeguard jobs and relaunch the site. Introduction of the principle of profit recovery and distribution

Rome, 28th February 2017 – Solving the crisis, safeguarding jobs, relaunching production in the Naples site, with the chief goal of achieving economic equilibrium: these are the aims of the agreement stipulated today between Almaviva Contact, the unitary trade union delegations (RSU) and the local trade unions at the presence of the Ministry of Economic Development and Social Policies, the Campania Region and the Municipality of Naples.

Within the framework of the agreement, which marks a new phase for Naples, a set of measures were identified that include social security buffers, company welfare, and quality and efficiency verification, supported by continuous training initiatives and temporary interventions on remunerations.

The most important commitment among those stemming from the agreement is an unprecedented measure introduced to recover previously suspended remunerations and subsequently distribute profits to the site’s workers.

The agreement establishes the principle of shared responsibility for management, through the creation of a Joint Committee comprising representatives of workers (RSU), of local trade unions and of the company, with the aim of monitoring the agreement’s implementation and the site’s production and economic trends. Moreover, the Joint Committee will also undertake to verify the terms and effects of the production efficiency measures and the development of the company’s welfare plan.

Temporary interventions on remunerations – involving a transitional suspension of accrued and future seniority-linked pay increases and a modified baseline for calculating severance indemnity (TFR) – will have an average initial real impact on the payslip of roughly 5% for the overall population, and 3% with regard to 4-hour part-time employees.

In terms of its innovative contents and balanced solutions – also with regard to the safeguarding of workers – this agreement is the most advanced among those stipulated for the sector over the past 12 months.

A crucial factor for relaunching competitiveness and productivity in the Naples site – necessary prerequisites to attain economic equilibrium in the shortest possible time – is that the Campania Region, which is an integral part of the agreement, undertakes to activate training programmes geared towards improving the professional skills of the site’s workers.
