AlmavivA Contact: agreement between the social partners for safeguarding employment

Rome, 18 December 2015 - AlmavivA Contact, assisted by Unindustria Roma, the national and local trade unions, and the plant unions signed an agreement today, in Rome, to tackle the expiry of the solidarity agreement under way, as a result of the recent changes to the classification of the Company decided by the social security organisation Inps, from manufacturing to third sector.

The agreement with the social partners serves the purpose of safeguarding employment, in the short tern, by means of a different social shock absorber measure - the so-called “defensive” type b solidarity agreement - consistent with the new company classification and expiring on 31 May 2016. This agreement, however, may turn out to be useless in the short-term, with the consequent loss of several thousand jobs, if no measures are immediately put into place to modify the market scenario, which is currently dominated by serious distortions.

This is down to the ongoing failure to observe Italian law on the relocation of business activities - a situation that has been underlined many times by the authorities -, to failed compliance with the national agreement, to public procedures for procurement consistently below the cost of labour, and to an unbalanced system of incentives and facilitations that continue to deeply alter the conditions for fair competition.
