AlmavivA has supplied the command and control system for the biggest patrol boat ever built for the Guardia di Finanza to be employed in countering the smuggling of goods and human trafficking

Rome, 9 October 2013 - P01 Monte Sperone patrol ship, 58 metres long, is equipped with the most advanced technology made available to this Italian law enforcement agency, for safety and patrol purposes at sea and to counter illegal trafficking.

With a displacement of 460 tonnes full load and a crew of 30, it was built by the Vittoria Shipyards, in partnership with the Dutch company Damen. It also complies with the strictest regulations on marine pollution protection regulations (MARPOL Convention). Its sister ship is approaching completion and will be launched in the forthcoming weeks.

The command and control system fitted on the vessel, developed by AlmavivA, is latest generation and serves the purpose of improving the law enforcement agency's operational capacity against illegal trafficking at sea.

This is achieved thanks to the integrated management of search sensors and for day and night vision, the images of which can be selected and transmitted to the other naval units, as well as the on-board systems for the detection and identification of vessels; and also thanks to the instruments for investigating suspicious situations and the use of radio and satellite communication systems for  ship to ship and ship to land data exchange.

"AlmavivA has a longstanding collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza in the development of security and control solutions - said Antonio Amati, General Manager of the IT Division - and we are very proud to have participated in the development of a case of excellence - the P01 Monte Sperone patrol vessel - supplying a range of state-of-the-art instruments”.

AlmavivA has equipped over 70 naval units for patrolling both the coast and the high seas, thus confirming its role as a strategic partner to the Guardia di Finanza and a leading Italian provider of excellence, with the know how and skills to achieve important results, in a sector featuring the ongoing need to invest in innovation and development.

The patrol boat was launched on Monday, 7 October, at Adria (Rovigo), during a ceremony attended, among others, by the Commander General of the Guardia di Finanza, Saverio Capolupo.
