Rome, on 15 June and Milan, on 17 June, have hosted the first edition of the Global Virtualization Conference organized by Cisco. The two events offered the occasion for filling up on all the latest progress in the field of Virtualization, considering the contributions provided by the leading companies of this sector.

At both venues, Cisco reserved a stand for Almaviva TSF, a meeting point where the Conference participants were able to examine more closely Hyperced’s offerings in terms of “Infrastructure As a Service” services.

In Milan in particular, Fabio Vaiani (AlmavivA TSF ICT Outsourcing Manager) was invited to sit at the Cloud Computing roundtable, chaired by Antonio Romano (VP IDC), together with Silvano Gai (Fellow – Cisco), Giuseppe Gorla (Senior Executive ATC – Accenture), Roberto Sortino (Director Unified Storage Group Italy & East Europe – EMC), Dario Bucci (CEO – Intel), Alberto Bullani (CEO – Wmware), Michele Tomasin (CEO – Panduit), Agostino Santoni (CEO – SAP) and Alfonso Mariconda (VP Strategy - Telecom Italia).

In his addresses, Vaiani proposed various major topics for discussion, underscoring, among other things, how the "As a Service” market is moving excessively slowly despite the evident advantages offered by the unified computing system in terms of scalability, energy efficiency and support in the corporate organization of IT services.

"Clients also have access to a further set of advantages: – Vaiani pointed out – the instantaneous start up of new businesses, through access to an immediately ready structure; the dynamic increase (or reduction) of the infrastructure in use, keeping the business constantly aligned with the supply of services so as to be able to capture the market opportunities in a competitive manner; the advantage of paying only for services actually used (“pay per use”) when they are used and for “as long as” they are used. Last but not least, they constantly have at their disposal a ‘state of the art’ structure run by specialized professionals".

The clear impression resulting from the Cisco days is that the world of Italian virtualization – and not just that – has found its fully competent point of reference in TSF and in its Hyperced experience. "In TSF they have worked wonders" stated Silvano Gai.
