The largest local authority in Italy – the City of Rome – has introduced a Sap-based Integrated Accounting Systems to manage its flow of funds. The Integrated Accounting System was developed to tackle one of the greatest challenges faced by the world of information technology at the beginning of the 21st century: the changeover to the euro.

 
On that occasion, to manage the flow of funds generated by its complex administrative machine, the local government of Rome chose to switch over from a custom solution to a market platform capable of integrating the management components of the city’s Accounting Department, awarding the relevant contract to a temporary joint venture established by AlmavivA and IBM (the representative).
