AlmavivA, with SEM, paired with the Enea Smart Village project, winner of the "Smart City Award and eGovernment" at SMAU Rome

Rome, 21/03/2014 - The closure of the SMAU event yesterday in Rome was marked by the prize-giving of the "Smart City and eGovernment Award" to the ENEA "Smart Village" project, as part of the event organized by ANCI on Smart Cities.
The winning project involved a demonstration of the "Smart Village" being set up in the ENEA Research Centre at Casaccia, near Rome.

Within the Smart Village, Enea chose SEM - Smart Energy Management System - the AlmavivA platform for the analysis, monitoring and control of energy consumption in buildings.

SEM compares energy behaviours and identifies any anomalous tendencies in properties with similar structural characteristics, intended use and climatic zones, thus enabling advanced diagnostic analysis and control for networks of buildings through a web-accessible platform that can track and display real time fuel consumption, store data and manage activations.

A single database integrates and compares: energy measurements, environmental data, characteristics of the buildings, plant data and usage data. The trials have seen SEM installed on a building complex at the "Smart Village" of the Research Centre. A network of sensors on each building allows information to be viewed remotely and in real-time, then acquired and transferred through the network to an integrated ICT platform that manages and optimizes energy consumption.

The approach is characterized by a strongly innovative aspect: the actions aimed at reducing fuel consumption do not act on the construction characteristics of a single building, but rather the management of the energy performance of all the buildings together, considered as nodes in the same network.

An important objective of the experiment is the application, to public property, of a system of replicable rationalization of energy consumption at reduced cost, in order to lower fuel consumption and spending.
