AlmavivA presents its intermodal transport card

25-02-2016

Held on 1-3 March 2016 at Karlsruhe in Germany

A cutting-edge solution integrating different ticketing systems and facilitating the use of local public transport by passengers

Rome, 25 February 2016 – A universal card valid on regional trains, buses, metro systems and, soon, high-speed trains as well, has been presented by AlmavivA at the international IT-TRANS Fair, an event held every two years and dedicated to the digitization of local public transport, held on 1-3 March 2016 at Karlsruhe in Germany.

The new AlmavivA solution allows access to a range of local transport services, regardless of the operator, giving form to the concept of Mobility as a service.

The card can be used on regional trains, buses and metro systems, without having to purchase different tickets, and which can be topped up on a self-service basis or via the Internet. Soon it may also be used on high speed trains and extended to other types of transport services, such as car sharing, taxis, etc..

Based on the Calypso 3.1 standard, with a data model developed by AlmavivA and certified by Spirtech, the intermodal card, currently used in Piemonte, meets the needs of smart travellers, who are always connected and require simple and efficient mobility solutions, which can provide a great amount of information, while at the same time supporting a fast and smart use of public transport, removing the obstacles created, until recently, by the failed integration of electronic ticketing systems and the lack of inter-operational standards.

The IT-TRANS Fair is held every two years and is an opportunity for businesses, associations and public administrations to exchange ideas and find solutions for smart traffic management and innovative communication and safety systems, as well as being a showcase for new products, services and solutions for local public transport.
