“Maurizio Pollini in Recital”: AlmavivA Partner for the Concert alongside the Accademia di Santa Cecilia

A legend. This is how whole generations of the public perceive Maurizio Pollini; thousands of enthusiasts have followed the Milanese pianist's long career with real affection and admiration.

Blessed with an extraordinary talent, Maurizio Pollini exploded onto the international concert circuit when he won the Warsaw Chopin Piano Competition at the age of 18. Half a century later, Maurizio Pollini is still one of the leading pianists on the international scene.

After an absence of three years from the Cecilia’s seasonal programme, yesterday evening at the Parco della Musica in Rome the Maestro returned to perform Chopin in the Recital concert, an anthology of sorts with dreamy and melancholic passages such as Nocturnes op. 27 and op. 55 and Berceuse op. 57, or magnificently complex passages such as Ballades op. 47 and op. 52, Scherzo op. 20 and the majestic Sonata op. 58.

AlmavivA, Partner for the Concert, is once again supporting the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, a leading Italian centre of excellence. Having become a Foundation in 1998, it is the only example of an academy originating in the Renaissance period to have taken on the appearance of a modern and productive business. It has an academic body of one hundred members, including the most prominent musicians from Italy and overseas, and a world-renowned symphonic orchestra and choir.
