Valeria Sandei, CEO of AlmavivA Consulting, attends the “New challenger in Information Retrieval and Text Mining in an open source initiative” workshop, a closed-door event organized jointly by CNIPA, the Fondazione Ugo Bordoni and Laboratorio Nestor workshop of Tor Vergata University and the University of Glasgow.

Creating increasingly effective search engines and extracting knowledge from non-structured data are current issues, within a scenario that features a constant and chaotic multiplication of information: Internet pages, e-mails, questionnaires, call centers, complaints, …. Information which, once they have been decoded and structured, may be analysed and become an important knowledge base for both businesses and government.

Technological innovation plays a key role in this context and will be discussed in detail during the workshop, to define a roadmap for developing the Terrier, open source framework, a search engine platform designed by the Department of Computing Science of the University of Glasgow.

The workshop will be held in Rome, at the Cnipa headquarters in via Isonzo 21/b, and will last three days, which will be dedicated to examining different aspects of the proposed issues: from application solutions to experience sharing and partnership planning by the research teams involved.
