The European conference on "Meeting the Challenge of Europe 2020: the Transformative Power of Services Innovation" closed today at the headquarters of Confindustria, in Rome, with the Final Report by the Expert Panel on Service Innovation in the EU, established at the beginning of 2010 by the European Commission, and whose membership consists of 20 top level European experts from the public and private sectors and the academic world, from 15 EU Member States, who have been asked to provide strategic guidelines for promoting and enhancing innovation in the services sectors, and its impact on industrial policies in connection with Europe 2020.

The 20 experts have shortlisted 30 cases of excellence from throughout Europe. Five of these come from Italy, such as “Cloud City Logistics”, the smart logistics project developed for the local authority of Parma by Almaviva TSF The platform can locate goods delivery vehicles in real time, thus optimizing deliveries and multi-destination itineraries.

The themes and solutions tackled by the project were illustrated at the Meeting by Valeria Battaglia of Federtrasporti and Alessandra Raffone, who is in charge of “Innovation Projects and Innovation Financing” at AlmavivA, in a paper called “City-logistics, Italy-reorganization of the distribution of goods within the urban territory of Parma”.

"The goal of a City Logistics project is to develop an effective and efficient urban goods logistics organizational model, in partnership with both the local authorities and businesses, with a view to cutting down the number of circulating vehicles (by aggregating the distribution of goods belonging to different parties) and reducing their environmental impact (by introducing low-emission vehicles), besides improving the commercial speed of the vehicles", said Alessandro Chierico, who is in charge of Transport Management Systems at Almaviva TSF.

"The important results produced by the Expert Panel on Innovation Service in the EU can be summed up in a very effective concept. The transformations that the European economy and society are called on to address and implement, in order to achieve the smart, sustainable and inclusive growth objectives, can be implemented only within a context of increasing integration between innovatory technology, industry and services. This integration will be able to develop and, indeed, as the conference has shown, already has developed in numerous European countries, including Italy, the new solutions for enhancing the growth, competitive edge and output of the European economy, state-of-the-art services for the public, user-tailored health services, local low environmental impact systems", said Stefano Pileri, the Chairman of Confindustria Servizi Innovativi e Tecnologici (Csit) and the Italian representative in the Expert Panel.

The conference was also attended by the President of AlmavivA, Alberto Tripi.
