Over a hundred exhibitors will be attending the TOSM event, scheduled for 26-28 May, at the Turin Lingotto and organized by the ICT sector of the local Union of Industry.

The Minister, Mr. Renato Brunetta, will attend the inauguration ceremony, while the 2009 Assinform Report – the annual analysis of the national ICT industry – will be presented for the first time in Turin on 27 May.

The TOSM targets small and medium enterprises, professionals and businesses in general and is sponsored by the regional, provincial and local authorities, the Turin Chamber of Commerce, CEI Piemonte, the local University and Polytechnic and Torino Wireless.

TSF will be attending with a stand on Market Development. The program of the three-day event features two presentations by Tele Sistemi Ferroviari – on Tuesday, 26 May at 6.10 pm, and Wednesday, 27 May at 12.50 pm, on the theme Logistica, Transport, Mobility and Intermodality: Intelligent “Business-Tailored” End-to-End Solutions & Services.

Alberto Tripi, speaking at the inauguration ceremony in the capacity of e-Government delegate of the Presidency Office of Confindustria, highlighted several of the actions that Confidustria is calling on the central Government and, indeed, on government in general, to implement in favor of the IT industry.

"The government authorities are terribly late in paying for the services delivered to them – he observed – a situation that was sustainable as long as the banking system provided the necessary guarantees; today it is no longer sustainable".

Tripi then highlighted how it was necessary to overhaul the entire public procurement and tendering system: "At present – he pointed out – the government authorities hold an enormous number of tendering processes and it is often the case that the commissioners called to assess and decide on the bids clearly do not possess the requisite competencies. This means that the technical component is assessed in the same manner for all the tenders and what makes the difference is the most economic bid in financial terms, which is rather unhealthy, for both the government authority involved and the winning contractor".

Another issue highlighted by the President of AlmavivA is the excessive number of publicly owned companies, "which are not generally up to scratch and have a harmful effect on the market as a whole".
