The ninth edition of “Cortina InConTra” is set to open on 24 July and will run until 29 August, providing a forum for political, economic and cultural debates. This year, as usual, the “current affairs on holiday” event – as it has been dubbed – will present another feature-packed calendar against the breathtaking backdrop of the mountains of Cortina d’Ampezzo.

For another year running AlmavivA will be sponsoring “Cortina InConTra”, an event launched in 2002, which has gradually increased its success over the years, thanks to its formula of meetings and debates hosting key figures in Italian politics, culture, science and the arts. Proof of this success is confirmed by a few figures: over 900 different events in 8 years, over 3,000 guest speakers, over 600,000 spectators overall, over 1,200 hours of live TV coverage. The High Patronage of the President of the Republic and the Sponsorship of the Council of Ministers and of the Ministry of Culture testify to the relevance of the event. “Cortina InConTra” is also broadcast live on Sky channel 901, Telelombardia, the Cortina Incontra website, Facebook and Twitter. Thanks to a partnership with Vodafone, you can be updated in real time, and free of charge, on the various events of

Over 300 guests will be attending 100 events in the Audi Palace tensostructure. Among the guests from the worlds of culture, entertainment and politics, the former President of Italy, Mr. Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, 10 ministers, 10 deputy ministers and undersecretaries of state and the Nobel Prize winner Luc Montagnier.

We are proud to present the program for the 2010 summer edition, said Enrico Cisnetto, an editorialist, the creator and organizer of “Cortina InConTra”- This will be an edition aiming at innovation, while remaining faithful to the initial format”. “We are proud and flattered, especially for the trust placed in us, once again, by our sponsors, which come exclusively from the private sector, despite the difficulties they are faced with, especially in the light of the economic and financial crisis”.

Among the dozens of guests that will be making keynote speeches and participating in other debates at “Cortina InConTra”, we’d like to mention a number of important political figures and members of government, such as Gianni Alemanno, Fausto Bertinotti, Renato Brunetta, Alfredo Mantovano, Roberto Maroni, Altero Matteoli, Matteo Renzi, Maurizio Sacconi, Mario Valducci, Nichi Vendola, Michele Vietti, Adolfo Urso. Among the writers and authors attending this year, Sveva Casati-Modignani, Giordano Bruno Guerri, Abraham Yehoshua, Gad Lerner and Antonio Pennacchi, together with the other Campiello Book Prize finalists, as well as great journalists, such as Jean-Marie Colombani, Ferruccio De Bortoli, Vittorio Feltri, Fabrizio Ferragni, Arrigo Levi, Paolo Mieli, Michele Mirabella, Bruno Vespa.

The following guests will be speaking on culture and science: Pier Luigi Celli, Giulio Giorello, Margherita Hack, Luc Montagnier, Umberto Veronesi, Stefano Zecchi. The show business and entertainment world will be represented by the renowned presenter Pippo Baudo and the comic actor Paolo Villaggio. “The economy with inevitably take pride of place in the debates and discussions at this 2010 edition, for obvious reasons – Mr. Cisnetto added – and, in this regard, we are honored to host the authoritative opinions of Alessandro Profumo, Ennio Doris, Vito Gamberale and Mauro Moretti, among many others”.

The event is not just about politics, economics and culture. “’Cortina InConTra’ is also a charity event, says Iole Cisnetto, Chair of the Associazione Amici di Cortina (the honorary Chair of which is Francesco Cossiga), and in the last few years we have implemented some important aid projects in Africa. “We have an ongoing commitment – she added – to the ‘Hub for Africa’ program, aimed at networking the experience of five important no-profit organizations: Fondazione Rita Levi Montalcini Onlus, Fondazione Pro Africa founded by Cardinal Ersilio Tonini, Fondazione Umberto Veronesi, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and the NGO Medici con l’Africa CUAMM”. “This summer – she concluded – we will call for a further effort by the public and our sponsors, who are always so attentive and generous, in support of our Mozambique Project: a commitment to the hundreds of HIV+ women and children who are treated and cared for by the mothers of the Kuplumussana Association”.

The event combines debates, discussions and meetings, with aid and solidarity initiatives, more or less confirming its general guidelines, while showing its capability of profound renewal. From September, in fact, the organizers are set to launch InConTra Srl, a large-scale venture designed to transfer the experience and skills of the “InConTra” brand, to different contexts and environments. “This is a very interesting challenge for us, and we are pleased to take it up – said Enrico Cisnetto – to broaden our horizons and test our capabilities, and we are certain that the outcome will be focused on the achievement of quality and the capacity to stimulate discussion, as usual, in the Italian political and cultural worlds”.

This challenge, and the partnership with Zètema and Ara Pacis, will also translate into the establishment of Roma InConTra. “We are happy to make this announcement at the press conference for presenting the 2010 edition of Cortina InConTra – Enrico Cisnetto concluded – because this new challenge is a further step in the direction we took at Cortina nine years ago. We intend to bring the winning format of the Cortina InConTra event to Rome, because we are convinced that in so doing we can provide a significant contribution. So, we are also pleased to announce some stimulating debates and discussions from next Autumn”.
